Last Saturday I had the pleasure of attending Plan International’s fifth annual “Because I Am A Girl” Ball” at the Conrad Hotel in Dublin. The evening started with a sparkling drinks reception where guests enjoyed a live performance from two classical opera singers. Guests also enjoyed a three course meal along with a live auction and some music Dublin based singer and songwriter Farah Elle. It was a glamorous evening that was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
Plan International targets key issues such as child marriage, forced labour, sexual violence, female mutilation and early pregnancy and attempts to break them down in order to create a new vision for girls across the developing world. I’ve worked quite closely with the Plan Ireland team, so I know first-hand how hard they work in changing the lives of young girls.
Over the past year, I have learned some of the horrendous background stories of young girls from impoverished countries across the world. Plan Ireland work tirelessly in educating and protecting the well-being and future of some of the most vulnerable girls in these communities. Living in Ireland we sometimes take it for granted the rights and privileges we are born into. Privileges such as education and freedom from forced or arranged marriages. If you would like to get involved please visit Plan International Ireland and see how you can contribute to this worthy cause.
Finally, a big thank you to the guys at Folskter in Dublin, who were kind enough to give me this beautiful dress for the night.
